HOW TO install SugarCRM for web read only.

Hi every one, I just finished installing and configuring SugarCRM on a VM that's connected to the company's local network. It runs smooth on Centos and I didn't get any problem installing it!

I wanted to know thow if it was possible to install Sugar on another server that connects to the net so that all the emploees that go to the clients can connect to the database that's on the other server for getting the customer information. This server would be also on a linux distro and use the MySQL DB that's on this other server.

Hi,

Anything is possible with SugarCRM. Usually the simplest solution is best. In this case, it seems like the simplest solution is to run only one instance of Sugar on a server accessible within and outside the local network. To make it read-only, configure Roles for the external users.

You could create a second, identical instance of Sugar on the remote server and point it to the local MySQL server. This will work fine for most things, but users on the remote server will not be able to access files uploaded to the local server. Also, changes made in Studio on one server will not replicate to the other server.

You could use rsync and MySQL replication to mirror the local system to the remote system.

There are other possibilities, but one system accessible anywhere is by far the best option.
