Easiest solution would be to backup your entire SugarCRM folder along with the database.
Some people prefer to only backup those files that change in the SugarCRM folder, mostly for optimization purposes, but quickly figuring out a process to do that is another matter. Unless you have a lot of e-mail attachments or files in your Documents/Notes modules, I fail to see the point in investing so much time in developing a solution for that purpose, especially given the fact that disk space is so cheap nowadays.
Simply copying the entire folder will do it and it can't get any simpler than that.

Use a search engine, I forget if its linked in these formus. There are a couple of backup scripts that will take care of the process for you.
First I need to know what OS you are using. If Linux I will post my modiefied shell script for you to use. Someone else wrote it such that it date stamps the file names for you and has a way to ftp or wget the files to another server.
Reply with your OS and I'll point you in the right direction.

BTW The script will backup the database and all necessary files and can be easily expanded if you need to backup things like asterisk (which I do :>)

Thank you for your reply!
I use Debian Linux!
Thanks, MAriana
Here's the script I have. I forget who to thank for this as I got it from someone else and modified it a bit.
Since I am using Asterisk VOIP I have the cp command to move the backup for it into the current directory. You will need to delete this and the tar/zip of the tftpboot directory (also for asterisk).
Edit your crontab (crontab -e -u {root or whatever} to call this shell script and you are off and running!
Thanks Paris
PS Remove the .txt file extension. Had to add that to let Sugar upload it. Also make sure you fix the directory listing to point to where you want it stored.![]()
