How to personalize the "greeting" in an email?

Hi every body,

I'm quite new using sugar, community version 6.1.0 so my question can be stupid for you, pleased forget me

I'm trying to customise an email template for an email campaign to the french speaking and spanish speaking market. So greeting change with the person's gender.

Example:

"Dear Mr X" in French will be "Cher Mr X" and in Spainsh "Estimado Sr X"
"Dear Ms X" in French will be "Chère Md X" and in Spanish "Estimada Sra X"

My question is, how to personalize this greeting "Cher/Chère" or "Estimaod/Estimada" in relation with the person's gender in a email campaign. Is it possible?

There is no built in feature to accomplish that, automatically.

I can imagine two options:

Option 1

• Create 4 different Email Templates, the way each one will be tagged to a specific set of Prospect List, filtered based on Country and Gender.
• Create 4 different Email Campaigns and assign the specific Email Template to the appropriate Campaign.

Option 2

• Create only 2 Email Templates, one for each language.
• Create a custom field Enum on Contacts, Leads which would be filled in with specific "greeting".
• Mass Update all Contacts and Leads in order to properly setup the correct "greeting"
• Add the greeting as a variable on Email Template.

The second solution looks nice, of course we will write 2 email templates. I'll add a field "greeting".

And, with this solution, is it possible to define this field automatically ? I mean, is sugar able to complete this field by "cher/chère" or "Estimado/Estimada" in relation with the gender ?

I ask it because, in a perfect solution, I would like user could see this field...
