How to send a mail to a group?

Hi,
I would like to send mails to groups of people. Is there a way to label contacts, for instance "like dogs", "former colleagues", "alumni from same master's programme"...?
Then when sending a mail I can choose to send it just to this special group.

Also can I send a group mail easily to all the contacts of the same project?

You can use Campaigns to send to "groups".

Create some Newsletters with subscriptions lists named "ex colleagues", "dogs" etc.

Goto Contacts and click on "Manage Subscriptions"

Subscribe Contacts to appropriate newsletters ... "ex colleagues", "dogs" etc.

Then you can run short "Campaigns" by selecting the subscription list for an email campaign

A bit clunky but it's the only way that I know to do it

Yes, that was what I thought, one has to go via the campaign module and newsletter subscriptions. Is ther no other way?

Also, have you got a good advice regarding contacts of the same project? How can I wuickly send an e-mail to all the contacts involved in the same project? Is the answer again - via campaign and newsletter subscritpions?

There's another way .... t'was too early in the morning for my first response

Create a multi select custom drop down for Contacts called "Group"

Populate the dropdown with the groupings

Create an entry in Studio>Contacts>Listview/EditView and DetailView for "Group" (+Advanced Search)

Populate Contacts with the Group that they belong to.

When you go to Contacts Listview you can filter/search on "group"

Find the Contacts in that Group

Click Select All

Then click "Compose Email" - this will send an email to all the Contacts that you have selected.
