How to set global Email-Seetings?

Hi,

i have installed today Sugar CRM Open Source Edition on my Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 w/ SP2 successfully. I have configured in

SugarCRM -> Admin Page -> Email Settings: Configure

my SMTP Server (i dont have snedmail on my Windows machine) and wanted to use these settings as default settings for sending mail out of sugarcrm (notifications, emails, etc.). After that i created a new user and saw here, that you have

Outbound Email Settings

for each user where you can select between smtp and sendmail. Do i need this configuration??? And whats the difference between the Outbound Email Settings in the user settings and the Email Settings: Configure??? For what are the settings, or better -> whats the difference and what happens when i let the user settings on "sendmail" even if i dont have sendmail installed!?!?!?

The email settings are for notifications and such and the user settings are for personal emails. Every user might have different settings for their personal emails, but all the system wide stuff goes out via the settings in Email Settings.

ok, thank you. that means for me that if i wouldnt change the user email settings from sendmail to specific mail settings the systemmails (notifications and more) would be send correctly. And when a user wants to send Mails from the system (for example mails to leads, contacs etc.) he would need the user specific email configuration. right?
