Default How smart (or dumb) is inbound email?

I'm considering testing SugarCRM with the inbound email option enabled. I know IMAP increases performance, but that's not what I'm curious about. I get a bajillion incoming messages a day, much of it is spam. Does inbound email only grab email from those addresses in the contacts or leads system, or are ALL email messages that come in placed into the SugarCRM inbox?

Basically, it'd be cool if Sugar managed email from leads and contacts, but let Outlook pick up and manage everything else. That'd seem the most useful paradigm.

Is that how SugarCRM does it, or is there just a river of email coming into Sugar if you turn inbound email on?

    Thanks!

P.S. For real, I get 7,000+ incoming email messages a day, but I'd like Sugar to really pay attention to the 10 or 15 messages that might be from contacts I need to manage.

As far as im aware Sugar downloads all messsages, there is no filter as such. If you getting that much spam I would invest in a spam filter mate, think of all the time you waste each day sorting through your emails.

    Think of the ROI !

Mail goes through Postini, then through a variety of honey pots, and then through local SpamBayes, then through Outlook junk mail. I get a LOT of mail even after all that filtering. 'Course, I've had an email address forever.

And, yeah, I could change the address, but what's the fun in that?
