Default How to specify to what entry a task is related to?

    Hi,
I have the PRO version of SugarCRM. I'd like to create a task within a workflow and add information to what entry in sugar the task is related to. For example: "Send proposal to company XYZ". However I don't see any possibility to add this XYZ. How can I do this?

    Andreas,

you need to create the relations in the vardefs and then during the creaton of a workflow task also build the link,. Since Workflow in the professional version is limited in functionality we have a fully fledged workflow module at hand that supports also logics in flows, branching out and back in, and links to various objects. Including automaed slection of workflow patterns etc.

Let me know if you have some need for a complex WF engine - maybe we can help.

    Hi Andreas,

I think the answer is easier than you think. Though it's harder to create a task with a name that's like you specified, it's easy to just create the task and have it linked to the appropriate record.

For example, I created a workflow that creates a task whenever the opportunity amount field is over $10,000. The task that's created shows up in the Opportunity's task sub-panel, and when you view the task directly there is a link back to the Opportunity that it's related to. I didn't make any modifications to code to do this; I just used the built-in workflow functionality.
