How to validate the phone fields?

Hello,

I am customizing Sugar.
I have created a module called customer. I added the customer details such as address, home phone, office phone etc.,
The phone number fields should accept only the numerical values, but in sugar contacts Alphabets are accepted as a phone number. I dont know whether its my problem or Sugar's. Can any one one clarify?

The Phone validation on SugarCRM are not well implemented yet.
So you could use any other validation function for phone.

Also, in my opinion, accepting letters as well as numbers is valid... an example would be a phone number that spells out out something (like 1-800-GO-WEBEX to get to WebEx's technical support line).
