I give up on Upgrade Wizard - Howto install an upgrade manually?

Can this be done?

I've been fighting with the upgrade wizard and the PCLZIP errors shown on another thread hereabouts, and I give up!

If I can get the upgrade ZIP file on to my server and unzip it manually, how do I go about manually installing it?

I would like to know as well, but you must not only upgrade files but probably upgrade mysql strucutre.

How do I go about migrating my database (including custom fields) to a newly installed instance of the latest version of SugarCRM?
