Default I know this is stupid, but....

    Hi there,

I know this is going to come as a stupid question, but I can not seem to be able to access the SugarCRM platform I have set up to be accessible on-line,

I am assuming this is how the platform is run within companies right, or do you have to download the software on every computer within the company that you want to use SugarCRM,

I am not stupid, I can run the SugarCRM platform perfectly, I have imported leads, changed the whole face of the platform, set up email etc, but just can not do this,

I thought it was a problem when I initially had set up the software, however even when I changed the name and web server name during the second time of set-up (example crm.companyname.com), I still can not access it,

I have downloaded the Sugar Community Edition 5.5.4, the FastStack Windows Installer with MySQL,

Please can somebody help me with this as my last post went by unresponded,

    Thank you for any help.

P.S. It may be something very simple, so do not be afraid to write something thats blindingly obvious to you...

From the first look I would say the firewall on your server prevents access to the http-port.

    Right OK,

Is there anything wrong I could have done in the set-up you think, as although I put a name in for the web domain (crm.companyname.com), it appears as the name of the tab on google chrome, however the actual address (in the address bar) is still 127.0.0.1.

I really do not understand why this is still, as I have installed the software on three different computers, at home and work, all can not have the same firewall problem right?

    Thanks.

127.0.0.1 is a shortcut ip address of localhost, that is the host itself.

If you install SugarCRM on a computer, this must have a own local ip-address which is different from 127.0.0.1.
Lets assume Sugar is installed on 192.168.0.1 and this computer has the name PC1, then you can access Sugar in the network with http://192.168.0.1/sugarxxx or http://pc1/sugarxxx if sugarxxx is the virtual directory where sugarcrm is installed.

If you do not know the ip address of your sugar server you cann call ipconfig on the dos prompt of winxp.

Thanks, will give that a go then,

I presume there is no way of doing this once the platform has been installed, instead will have to start installing it all over again...

    Thanks.

it has nothing to do with your sugar crm installation.
it is only a setting of your network card.

just open the dos promt and type ipconfig.

there you will see the ip address of your computer. just use that address to access it from other computers.

Oh right, of course, thank you for your help,

You wouldn't happen to be able to help me with the query I posted before would you, which is how to implement a box to show the summary of the dialogue between the company and the client, like what you get when you open the "view summary" tab, in the history section at the bottom of the "leads" page, however to just appear at the bottom of the page,

    Thank you.

You have the same button on the accounts detailview.
    Isn't that what you need?

    Hi,

Sorry, what I need is something implemented at the bottom of the leads page, like what you get when you open the "View Summary" option, the information displayed in the new window will instead be directly in the "leads" page,

Showing a summary, or a feed at the bottom of the page, so my colleagues can quickly write anything new down about the company, and be organised by date, almost like a "wall" in Facebook...

    Thank you.
