Default IMAP Group Inbox broken in SugarCE 5.1.0

    Hi,

In this thread and this thread. I reported a problem with Sugar 5.1.0 and Group Inboxes. However, it seems to only happen when the inbox is set as IMAP.

    The problem:
Starting with 5.1.0, new group emails are only picked up by the scheduler but, the new mails are not displayed when first entering the Email module. There are only displayed in the group inbox after the "Check for New Mail:" refresh setting delay has cause the page to refresh (in my case 5 minutes).

I've run some more tests with a fresh, clean install of SugarCE 5.1.0 on Linux, MySQL 5.0.45 with a new IMAP account. I manually run "php -f cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1". The problem is still present. But, when switching the group inbox to from IMAP to POP3, everything seems to work ok...

Can anyone confirm the problem with IMAP ?

Could it be related to the mail server ? I'm using hMailServer on a Windows 2003.

    Thanks,

    dstj.

Default Deleting POP mail causes Sugar to hang...

After more tests : POP3 mode recovers emails OK with the crontab for group inboxes, but when trying to delete an email, Sugar hangs indefinitely and nothing responds until I close my browser (remove session cookie) and log back in...

SugarCRM is a good product, but its email client is a big big pain at the moment...

Thumbs up How to get Group Inbox to work in SugarCE 5.1.0...

After more and more tests, I think I got it. Here's how (in my opinion) to use Group Inbox in 5.1.0 successfully :

    - Use POP3 or IMAP to connect to the server
    - Be sure to set the "Assign To Group Folder:" setting.
    - Activate the "cron.php" scheduler.

POP3 : Will download new emails into the "Group folder" and delete them from the server...
IMAP : Will download a copy of new emails into the "Group folder" and NOT delete the original from the server. Deleting an email from Sugar will NOT delete it on the server.

Trying NOT to use the "Assign To Group Folder" setting and use a plain IMAP Group Inbox will results in a lot of wasted of time and frustration...

The fact that IMAP does not delete the emails from the server (ever) is a problem in my mind... so I'll stick with POP3, even thought I just found that that really suggests to choose IMAP over POP3...

If anything here is incorrect, please correct me...
