Import Contacts - Duplicates Across Users

During import of contacts from Outlook, I only want to check for duplicates only in My Own contact list - I can find no way to do this, it always checks across all users no matter what settings I pick in the advanced import options. During import process I go to advanced options and specify to check duplicates using firstname, lastname, email and assigned user but even if my contact list is empty, it is finding duplicate contacts because other users have the same people. I am trying to complie a single list of contacts to notify via newsletter about our company move so I know this list will have duplicates across our company as these are the contacts we want to notify. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Barry,

you are using Pro so you can create a custom Contact based report that uses filters to select only the contacts assigned to you, in addition to any other filters. You can then save this report and use it to pull into a Target list within the campaigns module.

In regards to duplicates, the campaigns module is designed to only send one email to each email address. So even if you have duplicate contact records that have been selected in a campaign target list, if the 2 records contain the same email address, the campaign email will only be sent out once.

Thanks sugarcane, I will check out using Target lists instead of contacts for a move newsletter. I was going to add a custom field in the contacts module to collect whether to notify contact via email, phone or postal mail regarding our relocation but maybe I can add the field in the target list module. Thanks again
