import/export between win7 ubuntu6

I have been dual booting between windows and linux for several years and using sugarcrm for the past 5 years. During this time I have transfered data between the two operating systems without glitch using phpmyadmin import/export function. When I upgraded to Windows7 and latest Ubuntu...(both 64 bit) and SugarCRM 6.02 I have not been able to transfer the data without receiving mysql error notices. Oddly, I was successful one time - without doing anything different. I prefer the Ubuntu OS but am stuck on the Windows side because that is where the full database exists.

I like to keep this practice going as it provides me with a great back up for the database. I can't believe I am the only soul with this predicament. Has anyone experienced this problem - and solved it? Any suggestions?

Are the mySQL versions the same? And if you prefer Ubuntu and you're worried about data loss, why don't you just mysqldump the windows database, wipe your Ubuntu database, and load your Ubuntu database with your windows 7 mysqldump, and then make a cron job that does mysqldumps of your Ubuntu database regularly and puts them on a separate drive?
