My client has given me a CSV file with a list of contacts and the organisation name they each belong to. My SugarCRM database is currently empty. Many of the contacts belong to the same organisation. I wish to import this list so that I end up with one Account per organisation with many contacts per account.

I have read the help guide and it suggests that I must first create the Account records before importing the contacts. A two-step process. When I take the first step, I end up with duplicate Accounts. I have tried to remove the duplicates prior to import but the list is far too large to do this manually and I cannot figure out how to do it easily in something like Excel,

On Sugars import tools it has an Index option to select but this doesn't seem to do anything.

Any help would be appreciated
