Import issues - email field and custom fields

Hi I am using Suagr 5 beta

Email: When I import a standard csv file the email address field is not updating. All other fields eg name, phone etc... are being imported but everytime the email field is left blank. I've mapped this correctly and am working from csv file with correctly formatted email addresses.

What can I do to successfully import email addresses?

Custom Fields: I've set these up in studio as fields, checked labels and customised the layout. The fields exist! When importing, my custom fileds are not being shown in the import mapping drop down bar. Well they are..but they are blank (ie no name!) I can see blank spaces in the drop down bar but no name. If I select one of the blanks it does successfully import from my csv into one of my custom fields. Problem is on import I dont know which blank is which so cant get as far as doing my first data import.

How do I get it to show my custom field label on the drop down mapping bar?

I have searched forums and wiki for these answers but no joy...

Am I doing something obviously wrong - I need to get these resolved so I can get my data imported.

Emails wont import into the email field
custom field labels aren't showing at the point of import/mapping
