I have a question regarding required fields and labels for importing from CSV files, and hope that someone can help.

I am trying to import a series of CSV files which are inconsistent. In many records there are missing data in fields (eg no email address, no last name etc). We can't really change the data; it has been provided to us as-is.

I have taken out the "required field" flag from last_name, as per advice elsewhere in the forum. However, when I run a test import, the error.csv tells me that there are unimported records with a required value missing under lbl_last_name.

So, my questions are:

1. Have I just not correctly removed the "required field" flag from last_name?
2. If so, how do I remove the "required" flag from the label?
3. Does SugarCRM insist on having a field as required, or is it possible to build something with no required fields at all?
