Default Imported Contacts do not get Account Name

    Hello,
I first import a list of Accounts which completes and appears to work. I then have a list of contacts that I would like to associate to the proper Accounts (which are in the right field (I think) in the .CSV file) but the Account Name and ID will not come in with the Contacts.

    Thanks,

    Jordan

You're doing it the wrong way round.

Import the Contacts ... make sure that the Contacts row in the spreadsheet/.csv also has the Account name. Map the Account name during import setup. Voila, SugarCRM will create Contact and associated Account

The account names come in, but the contacts are not associated with them, when I look up a contact there is no account associated with it.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I have the same issue with a different use case:

SugarCRM 5.2, every things was working well.

Upgrade done on 5.5.1. Every things seems good, contacts are here, their related accounts too.

I'm doing an update import (with IDs & account_name filled up) because I have some update that comes from some excel files.

Import UI says everythings is OK.

Next all contacts have lost their accounts. I have try by setting the account_id, same results. It was working on the 5.2 (same file format & same datas). It doesn't work anymore. I thing this is a regression bug of the 5.5.1

I upgraded to the 6beta and now the import works perfectly.

    Hi jchristoff,

    thanks for this.

Is there a chance to see this in a maintenance release of the branch 5 ?

In other case could you mail me the diff / patch ?

    Reported on httpl://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/support/bugs.htm

    Two choices:

You put the account name at the end or you try the fix

Like everyone else, I've tried it this way as well.

Let's be frank, this is a bug.

I'm even trying it in Talend (Excel to map to Sugar) with the same 'lack of linking' results.

Importing to each module: accounts, contacts, opportunities, leads and tasks is not the problem - getting them to link to each other is the problem.

I'm frustrated but would you have something more in-depth to suggest.
