    Red face Importing Contacts

Ok Im sure there is a thread somewhere explaining what is going on with importing contacts but I really don't have the time to go through them all to find the answer, so if ANYONE can help me that would be great!

We just purchased sugar and I am trying to import contacts. The Accounts imported just fine but only 400 out of 1200 contacts are being imported. I feel like I have tried everything. Can someone please help me! Im getting super frustrated and I'm sure it is something easy that I am skipping - which makes me even more frustrated Anyways, any help would be great. We are all excited to be getting rid of our Business Contact Manager, we have been growing a ton and are finally ready to use something new.

I'm on my way out but in case you're working tonight and still haven't found the suggestions look for threads with my user name. I went through this stuff and have helped in some other threads.

To summarize it usually had to do with account names that have apostrophes. I know it's weird that you can import accounts that have apostrophe's into the accounts module but not into contacts but oh well that was the problem.

    Question Re: Importing Contacts

    THanks,

I did that and its still so slow, now it has uploaded 650, but it took an hour and a half just to do that. Is it going to really take 3 hours to import all 1200 contacts? I'm starting to wonder if sugar was a bad idea.....

K, this time I took my spreadsheet and made it into 6 individual ones with only 200 contacts on each one. it worked, but some of them still did not import, it is saying i missed a field or something? I dont know Im just glad I got the ones that did import into Sugar. Now I just have to try to figure out a way to find which ones didnt import... any ideas?

Export your list from Sugar to a csv and compare to what you have.

Don't let data import worry you. That's a pain in any system. I've been working steadily with Sugar for the better part of three months now and really importing has been the only real pain and that was just the contacts.
