Default Importing csv: how to pre-map new fields?

Hi, very much a newbie but have installed Sugar Open Source 4.2.1a on Win 2000 server.

Before I import my old contacts spreadsheet from Excel, I'd like to have the data from each column get mapped to the correct fields in Sugar. I cancelled my first attempt at importing because column headers I had, eg Zone, Rep, etc, were not options in the Database fields, and there is no option there to rename these fields.

It would be great if someone could share some basic knowledge here to help me get up and running.

    Thanks in advance,
    A

Hey A, if you're trying to map to fields that don't exist then you'll need to create custom fields.
The fields that show on the left hand side of the mapping tool are the labels of the fields in the Specific module.
If more than one label has the same name, it'll show you the field with a letter at the end.

Thank you, SJoe. I had created custom fields, and it was all going well, but my Excel column headed "account" was apparently a problem for Sugar. What should I call this column header so Sugar knows it's the account name - eg the key field in this import?

Right, I've got the field mapping sorted out. It's got a bit messy though - is there a way to reset all my fields back to a default so I can start again from scratch? Eg there is a field appearing in "add new account" that I deleted when editing the field layout and I cannot see it there, yet it appears on the page when I want to add an account.
