Importing leads from a CSV file - problem with date_entered

We recently installed Sugar Community Edition v 5.1.0. Our user interface is in Spanish.
Sugar is running on Debian/Linux system v 5.0.32. with PHP v. 5.2.1 and MySQL version 14.12

We added a custom field to the leads table.

We have a couple thousand leads in CSV files that we want to import. We can successfuly do so (including the custom field) but the date_entered field will always be the date we uploaded the file. We absolutely need to have the original date_entered field which is in our CSV file. We have tried changing the date format into as many formats as we can imagine, but to no avail.

I am assuming that what we want to do is possible. Is it? Can anyone share any info that could help us?

it's easy. Create another custom field (same format as the date_entered field in Sugar). Import your create date into this field. Then use phpmyadmin and update the date entered field with your imported field. Do it on a test db first...
