    Default Importing new accounts

So we have an existing database that has customers' accounts and is being updated regularly.
I would like to have this database syncronize to sugarcrm's database.
However, when importing into Sugar OS 4.2.1 re-imported accounts are imported as duplicates, making a messy, confusing database. The program we are using now does not export parts of it's database, but gives us the whole thing as a csv file.
I would prefer to have that csv file autmatically loaded into sugar on a weekly basis, but since sugar doesn't handle duplicate accounts well, this is not a solution.
Has anyone gone through a similar issue? If so, how and what did you do?

    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

Ive imported a relatively small outlook contacts list and it also wasnt exactly perfect. I had to massage the data as they say, i had to organzie so that only contacts with a company name were accounts as thats how it seemed to import. so i went to the trouble of setting it up that way. obviously not an option for everyone. I continue to syn w/outlook and its working ok. I have read that upcoming sugar import functionality will check for dupes. im not sure how long 4.5 will take (and if it has that feature for usre) but you could maybe try out the beta and if that works alot better, maybe hold off.

Yea, I was able to get the data into Sugar with only a small bit of trouble, but now as I'm trying to keep syncronised with our other program I'm running into some issues.
I found that you can enter account data directly into the MySQL database, as long as you create a semi-random id number(same basic form as Sugar puts in) for the first field. Maybe I'll be able to import the csv directly into MySQL.

to syncronize between databases you might want to take a look at Jitterbit. Jitterbit will work with almost any datasource and can do syncronizations. but it does require a bit of knowledge to use. Someone has created a jitterpack (a pre packaged structure) for SugarCRM. Although it will require some work do what you want it to sync with another datasource.

Jitterbit can be found at http://www.jitterbit.com/

Jitterbit seems to be capible of some neat stuff, but they don't seem to have a Mac version.

Goto Sourceforge repository and request a Mac Installer version. ( http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid...58&func=browse ) It should compile to Mac OS X because it is mostly java with a little C++ and is posix source. Source is available at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...kage_id=173687
if you want to compile it yourself.

We are planning to do a Webinar of how to use Jitterbit to synchronize between SugarCRM and a database application. This will include two-way synchronization. The Webinar will be annonced on the forum and sugarforge shortly. It should happen toward the end of the month.

If you need to do this urgently please provide the following and I'll dig up a Jitterpak that comes closest to your needs:

    1. Are you doing a one way migration into Sugar or a two way synchronization?
    2. Which Sugar interface do you want to use? Database or WSDL? If WSDL how much data are you planning to sync on a regular basis.
    3. Which sugar objects are you looking to integrate? Accounts only or all objects associated with accounts e.g. contacts, opportunities etc.

    Ilan.
