Default Importing Opportunities together with Contacts

    Hello!

I'm having trouble figuring out how to import some data into my Sugar 5.1.0.
I can import opportunity data just fine from my CSV file, no errors there. What I want now but can't quite figure out how to do is this:

Can I import the plain opportunity data AND some Contact data that automatically creates contacts and/or links them to the specific opportunity?

This is really important for an upcoming project; if it can't be done easily enough, the whole project will probably be cancelled, so I'd really appreciate if someone could share his experience regarding this matter with me.

    Thanks in advance,
    Selageth

No ... it can't be done using the standard sugar import functionality ... you'll need a custom script (not complex) or a tool like jitterbit

It can be done implementing an extended vardefs on Opportunities (virtual Contacts fields) and a logic_hook to automatically create the Contact if the requested module is Import.

It is promising. But I just want to use Sugarcrm yesterday having come from Salesforce.com.

Should this implementation suggestion be part of the import process, in order to link opportunities AND contacts and tasks to accounts and to each other?

I've attempted to do this linking with my little technological knowledge via sugarcrm import first and now Talend. I'm only using the basic aspect of Talend i.e. Excel - map - to Sugarcrm. So far no luck.

Importing to each module is not the problem. Getting opportunities and contacts to link to their relevant account is the problem.

I'm frustrated but open to suggestion. How do I implement your suggestion please?

    Mike
