    Default Importing records

Just as a note when importing records, if you are including the ID in the import file, the ID must be unique across all tables. You cannot have any other record anywhere in SugarCRM that has the same ID. For example you cannot have a Contact and an Account with the same ID.

    Thanks for sharing.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know what might happen if one does have a duplicate ID in contacts and accounts or whatever other mix?

Depending on which modules are involved, it can be everything from duplicate email addresses, or email addresses assigned to the wrong records, maybe relationships that don't show up in both directions (esp 1 to many relationships). It also messes with the select button, if you try to pick a record with the same ID as the parent record it doesn't end up saving that. Now duplicates between some modules won't affect the product at all if those modules dont have relationships to each other.

Mainly it confuses the Javascript I think, but I havnt really researched exactly what is going on. But I have seen it in case after case where IDs were created by hand and duplicates were allowed.
