Default Importing SQL into another DB

I’ve been having immense issues customising sugar ever since day 1. I’m running version 4.5.0h and have been asked to upgrade it again.

I started this a week ago & have hit the same issues. When ever I create custom fields & add them to the page layout they never seam to save the data. Or sometimes they work & sometimes they don’t. When I check the audit trail you can clearly see the data added each time & the changes made but the data on screen does not reflect the new figures added. The audit trail is correct however.

I was thinking the best thing to do would be to just install SugarV5 & start from scratch & re-customise everything. What I wanted to know is how do I get the data from my current sugar BD into a new DB? I have don’t have any knowledge on writing SQL commands. Is there A GUI any where that might do this or is there a simpler way of getting the job done?

Just a thought - have you tried looking in the sugar logs - or setting the logging level to debugging to see what is happening with the updates?

Also, depending on what sort of SQL database you are using (MSSQL, MySQL etc), you could use logging on the database server to monitor what is occuring too.

As for transferring over data - again it depends on what sort of DB you are using - buy for MySQL - a very good GUI tool is Navicat.

Steve, thanks for that MySQL V5 (details on signature). I think I have tried navicat once before & couldn’t get it to work, although I think I was trying to add to existing SQL data which is why it didn’t like it too much.

I'll take a look at the logging although I think the best option is to start again. Over the last year I’ve problem after problem because of the customisations & I think the version I started with 4.5.0a wasn’t stable at all, upgrade after upgrade seams to create more issues.

I’ve had a play around with V5 & it looks to be a lot more stable.
