    Default Importing users problems

    FYI:

I installed the complete (community open source) Sugar stack ver 4.5.1g build 1003. So it came with Apache, mysql, php
I run it on an XP Pro machine.

I don't know how to import my users .csv file from my old CRM into sugar. I could use some clear advice or links to a solution.

I have all my csv files from my old CRM solution. They all have unique ID's. I need to upload my user list because the unique ID's will then match and they can access all their old information.

I was considering creating all the users over again in SUGAR, then exporting them to a csv file. Then replacing all the data unique ID in my csv files with the new ones generated by sugar. The only problem is that I don't know how to export the data from sugar either.

Am I making any sense? What I am trying to do makes sense inside my head but I am not sure if I am getting my point across correctly.

Thanks for any info or help.

    Hi,

Regarding the SugarCRM, I do think that there is not any default feature/module for importing the user. Unless you having enhancement/modification yourself for user importing.

Well I will reply with my solution:

What I did was recreate my users in SUGAR. I then exported them into a .CSV file. I then did a massive find and replace in EXCEL with sugar's unique user ID's with the old ID's in my accounts.CSV file. This was a pain in the butt. I have 20 other .CSV files that I need to do this with. A co-worker offered a BBEdit solution that would change all the ID's in all the documents at one time but I have not had time to sit down and grind it out.

There must have been an easier way to import the users, or importing the table in some other way than the SUGAR web interface which lacks this functionality (or I just didn't see it!).

I am still interested in what I should have done, versus my work around. Any suggestions?
