    Default Importing Users from Salesforce

    Anyone willing to help,

    1. I have been able to import and account from Salesforce
    2. I have been able to import contacts and associate them to that account.

The problem that I am having, and I have searched these forums, is:

How do I add a custom field to the users object?

What is the best way to associate an account with a user on import?

I am looking for best practices or any guidelines, ideas, past experiences, etc....

Thanks and sorry for the vague quetions

    ~Mike

    Hi Mike,

Sugar 5.2 has an import link in the Users module. So the first thing you want to do is import your users. Map your Salesforce fields to the corresponding Sugar fields. You can import the Salesforce user ID, otherwise, Sugar will create a new user id for each user.

Once the above is complete, you can then import Accounts, Contacts etc. You will need to pull the user ID from above (Salesforce ID if you imported it, or the new Sugar ID), and use this ID to import into the Assigned User field. The records will then be associated to the correct user.

You cannot change the Users module in Studio. Any layout changes, custom fields etc for this area needs to be done in the code

You might also want to check out the user guide about importing into Sugar if you have not already done so

    @ sugercane,

Thank you so much, that REALLY helps.

One thing though on import on the accounts once the users have been imported. When I import accounts, do I assign the salesforce userID to the account assigned too or Assigned User?

Also in salesforce the owner on an account is actually linked back to the user table, is done in sugar also? I do not see any link back to the owner

Sorry for all the questions and I will def check out the user manual, I appreciate your time sir!!
