Thumbs down Inbound E-Mail Setup Problems - Version 4.2.1

I just installed Version 4.2.1 of Sugar CRM.

ISP is running Apache, PHP etc... (used cPanel)

I am having problems setting up Inbound E-Mail accounts

I input everything, but when I click the "test" button, the system hangs. I have tried everything. It appears that neither POP3 nor IMAP are being recognized. When I click "save", the system hangs again and neither e-mail protocol can be saved. Instead it shows the "Mail Server Protocol" as "none".

I have searched the Forums and have found various similiar problems. I do not want to start patching things etc. until I get some definitive advice.

I did note that when I put in a bogus mail server address, I would get some sort of response (error message) - which tells me I am using the correct nomenclature when I do put in my server address. In fact I have tried e-mail IDs from two different domain names with the same negative result - system hangs. I am 100% positive that the credentials I am using are correct.

Is there an E-Mail setup FAQ that goes through every single setting and possibility. I know I am doing my end right. So I am probably dealing with some server vaguery or whatnot.

Ideas and comments are greatly appreciated.

    regards - Les

I guess I must be the only one having this issue.

Too bad..... I must say that this Forum has very poor participation and that often posts are clearly in the wrong place. If see one more "help" post in "general discussions"......

Hi, it's not bacause people are missing your posts, but because this issue rarely happens. I have many configuration of SugarCRM for a test pourpose, like Suse, Fedora 4/5, RHEL, Windows 2003, Apache 1, 2, 2.2, PHP 4, 5, etc., but this has never happened.

Could you try to turn on logging (of Apache and Sugar) and see something important is there?

Is the IMAP php module installed? If so, what version?

Have you looked through this thread?

If you continue to be stuck, you might want to buy a Sugar Network subscription and get a SugarCRM Inc. support engineer to help troubleshoot the problem.
