Default Inbound Email Broken. Changes in 5.0? Groups?

    Hi,

I've been trying to figure this one out for the past few days, but I'm going around in circles. I recently upgraded a client from 4.5.1 to 5.0. During the migration, most of the settings seemed to move across OK, but Inbound emails have been a problem, and there are no emails appearing in the Group Inboxes.

    - I've checked and verified all the settings for the two Inbound Email accounts. Test settings confirms that communication with the email server is OK.

    - Logging in to the webmail of the target account I can see there are many hundreds of emails waiting to be downloaded.

    - Scheduling seems to be running OK. At least of the three Active Scheduled tasks, the one which sends email out is working OK. The Check Inbound Mail and Processed Bounced Email are each marked as having completed at the correct time. However no email ever appears.

    - Nothing suspicious appears in the logs when I turn on "info" level debugging in log4php

    - If in doubt, restart. That doesn't improve things either.

    - Also checked and re-checked all the file permissions. Are there any I should specifically be checking here?

One thing I've noticed is that there are no Group User accounts created for the Inbound Email accounts. This used to be the case in 4.5.1. Are they still required? I have the two previous Group accounts which were transferred across, but the new Inbound email boxes I created don't seem to have created corresponding Group accounts.

Let me know if there's anything else I can try here. Going slowly crazy.

    Hello,

yes, you do need the Group user account. There is a 'Assign to Group Folder' dropdown that appears in the Inbound email setup page. Make sure this references the appropriate group user. If nothing appears in this dropdown, there is a 'Create' button where you can create one.

Sure so that's what I did -- when the migration had completed, there were no Group Accounts, so I used the button to create new ones. These appear as folders in my Email view. However I noticed that there were no corresponding Group Users created at the same time (like 4.5.1 did), so I wondered if that might be a problem.

Sorry for not being clear the first time.

You might want to delete the inbound settings that you migrated over and re-create them in the new system. When you create a new box for bounce handling, a Group user should automatically be created in the Users.

Also, within the email module, be sure to click on 'Settings', and on the 'Mail Accounts' tab, create a new mail account with the same settings as for your inbound box. When you have entered this data, click the Test Settings button to ensure that what you entered is correct, and if so, save. A new folder will appear which should bring down all your emails (you might need to click the Check Mail)
