Inbound email IMAP INBOX empty!

Five heavy users on the system. No problems until out of the blue one of the users cannot see anything in INBOX, but can see everything in INBOX.Trash and INBOX.Sent.

His IMAP acct works just fine in Thunderbird.

Where are the settings in the mysql db that control what shows in the INBOX? How can they be reset to behave as if the account is brand new?

Problem surfaced in 5.2.0e; I upgraded today in hopes of fixing the problem but it did not.

Please help, Sugar was meeting our expectations until now.
