    Question Inbound emails: (automated) import

    Hi,

I just updated to 5.0.0b. One good reason was the enhanced e-mail system. But I was deeply disappointed!

Inbound emails don't get associated with contacts like in former releases. Hey, that was a definitly indispensable function of a CRM!

OK, there is a function "Import to sugar" but the only thing it causes is an error message: Import Failed because the message is already imported or deleted from server". Announcing this Sugar deletes the message from my inbox without a trace. That's unacceptable! Yeah, the message was deleted from the server by sugar itself when receiving the mails.

    So please let me know:

    - How can I activate automated import /setting relations to existing contacts?
    - How can I avoid mails getting lost?

If this is not possible, please give me the following information that might help to build a workaround:

    - in which tables will imported mails be stored?
    - in which tables are inbox mails stored?
    - which script fetches the mails from the server?
    - what else will I have to know to understand the sugar-mail-system?

And there is another point. It's a great thing to have the possibility to create user folders. Wonderful. One of the first I created was called junk. But there is no way to create rules to move mails with a spamassassin-header to that folder. That's not an unscalable developer's challenge, isn't it?

Looking forward to your helpful repy.

By the way: If there is need for a workaround and we can develope it, I will surely publish it here.
And please forgive me. Besides all that sugarCRM or more precisely your work is really valuable!

    Regards

    Uwe

I'm having the same problem exactly.

the server gives a "Message No 1, Status : Import Failed because the message is already imported or deleted from server" whenever I try to import a message to sugar, and then the message disapears from my Inbox (I must note that [ ] delete from server is NOT marked)

I'm also having a similar problem with 5.0.0b I can however import to sugar, but if I go to All Email I don't have the option to reply to any emails just to delete... Right now I have over 1200 emails I need to import into sugar so manually doing it isn't really a great option. Not to mention I can't reply!

If anyone figures out how to automatically import the emails please let me know. I checked the sugar admin manual and it says with group emails they can be automatically imported to sugar through a batch process however it does not give anymore details on how to do it.... Any advice would be appreciated.

    also:

    - sent email disappears
    - deleting in IMAP folders doesn't work
    - importing into sugar asks for a way to link it to something. but we can only link to one item. What about certain mails that are to be linked to contacts/accounts/opportunities/etc... at the same time?
    - some user can't see the contacts.
    - the other email field is gone and all emails in that are gone
    - some statusses are reset from paid to planned, causing requests for payment to be sent again...

the Enhanced email system is totally not ready.

    - auto-recognizing of emails and known contacts
    - auto-import of those emails, according to the above.
    - those failing should be put into a certain folder under sugarcrm, to be manually imported or something.
    - importing should have more than one linking option
    - emails should be able to be linked more easily.
    - quick create doesn't have linking to opportunity, etc ...
    - sent mails should be put into the sent mail and actually have a date!
    - having 2 accounts (personal IMAP + sugarmail) is not clear at all...

IMHO 5.0.0 is not ready for stable release.

this email system should've been tested more...

I'm guessing rolling back to 4.5.1 isn't really possible because of the database changes.

I would like to have some workarounds for these things please.

Same here. I think this e-mail system is not yet usable for a CRM app.

I have the same problem I can't find a way to automate import & association of emails with any of the Leads/Accounts/... Without this feature the CRM is completely pointless...

Nobody seems to answer to this subject.

There is no way to this e-mail system deal with association of mails? This seems silly, but nobody here can do it... this make sense in a CRM system? Will be implemented in Future? It is only avaliable in commercial version of SugarCRM?

    Best Regards, André.
