Exclamation Inserting other module variable into email template

    Dear Sugar experts

We are trying to write an email template that would run for a campaign to thank a client for a project they just completed.

The idea being that we would like to reference the opportunity and other variables in that.

    Here is the scenario

We would like to form a campaign by target list of contacts associated with opportunities that were closed six months ago. Then in the email template it would have something like

    " Dear XXXXx

Thank you for choosing our product for your (opportunity name) project. Please fill in the survey to share your thoughts etc.....

    "

If you could help if this is possible or if the feature is available that would be very helpful.

    Thank you

    Avi

When you're creating the template email>create email template ... see the "Insert Valiable" toolbar.

Select Module>Contact/Lead/Target then FirstName in the next dialogue box ... place cursor after "Dear " and click Insert

You may have to write a custom query to select the contacts that have bought from you ... then add them to a target list for the campaign.

I'm trying to do the same - autofill a related opportunities fields into an email template that will be sent to a opp's contacts. I haven't gotten it figured out. Has anyone had success in doing this. I tried to add Opportunity into the code for EmailTemplate.php and EditView.php, but its not working, and I think its due to not fully understanding how EmailTemplates and their autofill data are parsed by Sugar on "Send".

Anyone have any luck getting Opp fields into an email template? Thanks in advance!

Did you ever get an answer to this? We are trying to do the same thing: add a different module (ie. campaigns) to the drop down "insert variable" list.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
