Default Installation; Difference between DB-User 'Same as Admin' an 'Provide excisting User'?

    hi,

I have got some problems with my Sugar CE 5.0.0e. If I insert some Custom-Fileds via Studio an place them with the Layout-Editor, everything looks good, but doesn' t work.
After clicking the Save-button, my entries are not stored in the Database
I already checked Database- and Filepermissons, without success.

During testing I remembered the Installation-Options about the Sugar Database Username...
If I select 'Same as Admin' everything wokrs fine and my entries are saved in the Database, if select 'Provide existing user' and fill in the same login as above, it does't work. Help!
    Hope you understand my request...
Maybe you can explain the difference between this both Options and tell me how to change this after installation.

It's no reply to reinstall, I have to fix my existing System.

My SugarCE 5.0.0e is running on Debian Etch Apache, Php and Mysql.
    Thanks for help.

    best regards,
    jbmdn

These two are referred to user/password for MySQL.
"Same as Admin" of course works, because it has full permissions over DB.
Sure you can use "Provide existing user", but provide an existing user with Administrator privileges....

    Ok, thanks. I get it.
But is there a possibility to check the correctness of my settings? To my knowledge only the Admin-Login could be seen in the config.php.. I think while installation I selected the 'existing user' option and now want to look-over again.
I dont know how to fix my existing installation. I gave all privileges to my DB-user but still couldn't save ma Data.
    I' helpless.

    Thanks for any suggestion,
    jbmdn

    Hi, jbmdn

It seems the Provide existing user has no full privileges to database using by Sugar.
Use phpMyAdmin to make sure this user can alter the database structure.

Yes I can. Nearly everything works fine.
Only to save Custom-Fields makes problems.

Have you performed "Clear template data cache" and "Rebuild relationships" ?

Thanks to all, i found the problem.
    It hasn't been the db-privileges,..
I checked the query in mysql.log and saw that there was updated a column which wasn't been in the database
Silly, but now everything is working well.
