    Default (lack of) email notifications

We are having problems with email notifications. Suppose a user schedules a call for another user sometimes a notification will be sent out. Sometimes it will not. I've tried working through our logs but I can't really figure out what is going on. Has anybody got any tips for debugging this one?

Is it possible that SugarCRM omits notifications in certain circumstances, say where people are already logged in?

    Thanks,

    Ian

    Hey Ian,

Sugar will always send notifications if:

    * you're creating a new record assigned to somebody other than yourself
    * that user has an e-mail address configured for their account (in User Management or My Account)
    * that user has enabled notifications in My Account
    * notifications are enabled (system-wide) in Admin -> System Settings (I believe)

The notification should go out immediately when the record is saved. If you're sure these conditions are met and are still missing some notifications, let us know.

Thumbs down Re: lack of email notifications

    Hi

I'm not getting any email notifications when a lead is assigned to me in Sugar 5.0.0e

The email address is definitely correct and I can send emails both from and to this address from Sugar.

This seems odd as no-one else has reported similar behaviour.

There has not been any customization of the standard Sugar installation.

I can provide links and code if necessary.

    Thanks

    Marcus

    Hello Marcus,

Did you check my bullet points above? Also, make sure you're not assigning a Lead to yourself for testing... no notification will be sent out. The record needs to be created by another user.

At worst, you can enable debug logging to find out what's going on. If you're not the sysadmin, you'll need to contact them to have it done.

    http://www.sugarcrm.com/wiki/index.p..._debug_logging

After debug logging has been enabled, try again. You can then check the sugarcrm.log file (in the main Sugar directory) for lines like these:

Notifications: user assignment has changed, checking if user receives notifications
Notifications: not sending e-mail, notify_on is set to OFF
Notifications: no e-mail address set for user ..., cancelling send
Notifications: error sending e-mail (method: ...), (error: ...)
    Notifications: e-mail successfully sent

Which messages appear depend on what Sugar is doing. Good luck!

Email notifications were not set to on in the admin settings. Not sure how I managed to miss that! Sorry.
