hi there

the feuture to look for duplicates when coverting a lead to a contact is a good one, but i need to be able to see if there is a contact when i load the lead the first time, or maybee a dup lead

You needs is not pretty clear.
Do you want to know if already exists a Contact with the same name in the Lead or if this current Lead already had been converted into a Contact?

Hi Paul,

if you are manually entering the lead into the system, then you can use the search panels in the Contacts and Leads modules to see if the contact person is already in the system. Or you can use the Global Search to search both at the same time.

If you are importing a list of leads, then you can use the 'Verify Duplicate entries against selected indexes'' function within the import screen (under advanced options)- this will let you know if the person is already in the leads module.

Thanks for the response.

We al know we can search for a lead, but try and get a sales person to do that every time he enteres a new lead - not gonna happen.

So when he enteres a new lead the system should do 2 things.

firstly just like in contacts warn if there is already a lead with same name and surname in system, possible dup.

secondly if there is already someone with same name and surname in contacts i should also be warned, dont want to enter a lead, get hopes up and start to prep for first contact then only finding out he is already a contact?
