I'd like to know exactly under what circumstances the "Leads Created" subpanel is populated in the Campaigns View Status screen.

The SugarCRM online users manual only mention of the panel is a short description: "A list of leads resulting from the campaign. Leads are created when targets identify the campaign and, as a result, are converted into leads."

I did find an external source describing how to create a campaign with new targets. It said that when the target is manually converted to a Lead. In the Leads module, in the top left corner, a Successful Campaign section will show, allowing the user to select the campaign, which will in turn cause that new lead to show in the Leads Created subpanel.

Is that the only way that subpanel is populated? Can it be populated automatically via a record's status change, or a conversion, or by some other means?

Thanks for anyone's help!
