Default "Leads" module not available to user

    Hi,

I've got a problem whereby one of the users on the system (who also happens to be an admin) cannot access the "Leads" module when almost everyone else on the system can.

When he logs in, the "Leads" tab is not visible, despite the fact that it is set as a displayed tab in Admin/Configure Tabs.

If I send him a direct link to the "Leads" page as follows:

    https://myserver.net/sugar/index.php...s&action=index

He gets a page with the error "Warning: You do not have permission to access this module."

I can't find where this access is granted or denied. He is a member of a role called "Power Users" that allows access to this module, and everyone else in that role can log in and access the "Leads" tab.

Strangely, I am a member of a role that explicitly does not allow access to "Leads" (and has all of the other access perms set to "none") and yet I can still see the tab and make and save changes to any leads.

There's obviously some intermediate layer I have missed that actually puts these permissions into action - could anyone enlighten me?

If you go to the user in question's user page and look at the role grid what do you see for the Leads module? You may be able to access the Leads module if you are set as an administrator. However, for non-admin users the roles are restrictive meaning that if a user is assigned to multiple roles the user gets the most restrictive rights from all the roles. This isn't always desired though but I'm not sure if they are going to add it as an option to make additive in the future or not. I've added that option in the SecuritySuite module since many of the orgs using it tend to work that way.

Click into the edit view of the User and scroll down to the section called Layout Options. Make sure that the Leads module is not under the 'Hide Tabs' or 'Admin Remove Tabs' columns. If so, move them to the 'Display Tabs' column and Save.

Ah, my bad... I assumed that the role membership also controlled which tabs you could view.

    Thank you for you help.

    Hello m0thr4,

I assumed that the role membership also controlled which tabs you could view.
Roles do restrict different modules that you have access to. You can assign many users to a role and they will all be bound by the restrictions of the role.

The 'Admin Remove Tabs' column in the Users module allows you to remove access to a module on an individual user basis. So if this only needs to be applied to 1 user, you can just do this instead of Roles. or it can be used with Roles. Only admin users can see and change this.

The 'Hide Tabs' column is available for users to hide a module tab for their personal login if it is a module they have access to but never use and don't want to see it at the top. They can always unhide it.
