Leads Phone Customize

Hi my first time here well i like sugarcrm but i have a doubt about the fields in Leads i make a new custom field named phone but when the lead try to convert a contact i can't see the phone field i make so my solution is take one of the default field like work phone to put in required option but i can't see where i can do it i need some help with this

for more specify my problem first create a textbox for my custom field named phone_c well everything is ok i put in the edit view and customize all the edit view and detail view in the module of Leads and when i try to convert Lead to contact i have the problem all the fields in the form no include the phone_c field but include the standard field like work phone home phone mobile etc i'm thinking if possible to modify one of the standard field like home phone and change the field is required to fill that is all i need or exists some kind of relationship between leads and convert leads to contact that i need to programing
