Leads Status changing to New on it's own

We are having an issue of leads status changing to status - New on their own, I do know if I change the status to a blank selection it changes the status to New, Our users say they are not doing that. An audit record is being created each time this occurs. Does anybody see this happening in their version. It has been happening since 2006 our current version is sugar CE 5.20k. any feedback would be good .... Thanks Garry

Next time it happens check the database record to see what the value is in there. It may have a value that does not match with anything in the dropdown list keys. If this is the case you have an automated process (e.g. logic hook) that is setting the status to something that you don't support.

Otherwise, check the audit log and see if someone is changing it.
