Default link to lead in email message

    Hi:

We have a bunch of work flow alerts that email users when leads are assigned, converted, or stale (and need to be worked on again), etc.

When a lead is assigned, there appears to be a 'canned message' that says a lead has been assigned to you with some details INCLUDING::

You may review this Lead at:
< http: link to lead >

But when the lead is stale and the work flow changes the status to 'pending-work' from 'pending' and fires off an email message to the assignee that he needs to re-work the lead, it only says the verbiage that i put in the 'alert text'. The email message does not contain the link to the lead. But we need it to contain the link, so that the assignee knows which lead became stale and needs to be re-worked.

    So my question is:
How do I put the link to the lead in an alert to the assignee?

    Thanks for your help

    Dave

You can create a custom email template and can include that link in the template. First create the alert template; select Leads as the template type so you can insert the Lead link. Edit the template-- add your verbiage, and add the link to the record by making sure "Target Module: Leads" shows and the "Link to Record" is selected in that dropdown on the next line. Click on the Insert button to insert the link where your cursor is in the template.

Next, create the Alert (in your workflow), select "Source Type" of "Custom Template", then select your template. Save and test and you should be good to go.
