    Default linking accounts to contacts

    FYI
    Sugar community version 4.5.1e (package installer with apache,mysql,php)
    OS Windows XPSP2

    I have imported my accounts from a previous CRM,...
    I have imported my contacts from a previous CRM...

    There is another table that tells SUGAR what contacts belong to what accounts. I have this table but I don't know how to import it into SUGAR. Without this table none of my contacts are linked to show up on my accounts page.

    I can manually go into each contact and select the accounts that each one belongs to, but that would be quite tedious and time consuming.

    Someone know how to solve this?

    Anthony

    If you import an Account Name value when performing the Contacts import, Sugar will link the contact to the account with a matching Account Name value.

    Unfortunately, that would mean you'd have to do your import of your contacts again, even then, your mileage might vary.

    The relationship table you mention might be helpful, assuming you used the other CRM system's ID values for the ID value of the records in Sugar or included them as part of the import of the accounts and contacts. Assuming you did, you could populate the accounts_contacts table in the Sugar database with the appropriate IDs and establish the relationships once again. You would need to do that through the backend, using a MySQL admin utility of some type.

    This is so frustrating. I have been using Sugar Open Source for a few years and recently upgraded to Sugar Professional. I am beginning to think that was a big mistake. As far as I can tell there is no easy way to get the information from my open source package into Sugar Professional. I had somebody from Sugar Sales offer to do this for me for $4,000.00. Is that a scam or what?

    I have spent the last week trying to simply move the data from Sugar to Sugar. How hard should that be? But it is riddled with problems, bugs and is extraordinarily difficult. Our corporate parent company, Amazon.com, uses Salesforce, and I think I am headed that way too.

    The latest in a long string of importing problems is that virtually all of the data I spent the last week importing is not related to any other data. In other words, there are accounts without any contacts. There are contacts without any accounts. There are opportunities without any contacts, accounts or history.

    Shouldn't the fields from a Sugar Export be automatically mapped for a Sugar Import? Shouldn't there be a "mass export" and "mass import" from one Sugar instance to another?

    You know, they say you get what you pay for. But in this case, you apparently get less if you are foolish enough to pay. I had something useful, but now I have wasted money, a week of time, and I am left with something utterly useless.

    They also say "there are two sides to every story."

    The process of upgrading from Community/Open Source to Professional/Enterprise takes about 10 - 15 minutes under normal circumstances. It also doesn't require you to perform an export/import at any point.

    Given those two conditions, it would seem to me that you are either attempting to perform your upgrade in an improper manner or you are trying to do a little more than a simple upgrade. Why are you trying to do an export/import otherwise? In which case, insinuating that someone is trying to scam you seems like an unjust accusation.

    Lastly, I underscore the point "under normal conditions" because nobody knows how your server is configured until they actually look at it. Like I said, the process normally takes 10 - 15 minutes, but if the server needs to be manipulated in some way to get it to the point of being able to do the 10 - 15 minutes worth of necessary work, well, that's not necessarily Sugar's fault. They can't compensate for every possible variable.

    This would be akin to me taking my car for an oil change and getting upset because they didn't get me out in the advertised 30 minutes, then neglecting to mention that they couldn't do so because I had welded my oil pan bolt onto the oil pan.

    Default Latin Characters - accounts and contacts (from 4.5.1 to 5.0.0)

    Hi,

    I tried to upgrade the version but it does not work properly.

    After few day, the decision was to import all the data manually.

    Here we received a 15000 proposal to do the migration!!!

    Export all the data through phpMyAdmin was easy, but impossible to import it again. Ok, lets import each table individually. Well, the tables changed and we have to map them again. Hard work! We have to download it, save as .csv and import all of them again.

    When we finished to import account, contacts and account_contacts to link the both, all the Latin characters was missed. The data on the .csv files are correct, but when we import them, the data was missed, exactly at the Latin characters point.

    Version 4.5.1
    billing_address_street = R. Tutóia, 1157
    billing_address_city = São Paulo

    Version 5.0.0
    billing_address_street = R. Tut
    billing_address_city = S

    Well, I tried to to a sql query directly at the myPHPAdmin.

    mydomain
    _scrm (94) - Version 4,5.1
    _sgcrm (98) - Version 5.0.0

    INSERT INTO mydomain_sgcrm.accounts (id,date_entered,date_modified,modified_user_id,as signed_user_id,created_by,name,parent_id,account_t ype,industry,annual_revenue,phone_fax,billing_addr ess_street,billing_address_city,billing_address_st ate,billing_address_postalcode,billing_address_cou ntry,description,rating,phone_office,phone_alterna te,website,ownership,employees,sic_code,ticker_sym bol,shipping_address_street,shipping_address_city, shipping_address_state,shipping_address_postalcode ,shipping_address_country,deleted,campaign_id)
    SELECT
    id,date_entered,date_modified,modified_user_id,ass igned_user_id,created_by,name,parent_id,account_ty pe,industry,annual_revenue,phone_fax,billing_addre ss_street,billing_address_city,billing_address_sta te,billing_address_postalcode,billing_address_coun try,description,rating,phone_office,phone_alternat e,website,ownership,employees,sic_code,ticker_symb ol,shipping_address_street,shipping_address_city,s hipping_address_state,shipping_address_postalcode, shipping_address_country,deleted,campaign_id
    from mydomain_scrm.accounts

    Then, it worked successfully!

    Default Duncan x Angel

    Sorry Angel,

    I am on the Duncan side. My upgrading was frustrating too and I don't know yet if it will finish successfully! Until now, I just uploaded account, contacts, account_contacts, plus campaign, campaign_log, campaign_trk.

    Now I will start to upload the emails databases, and the databases are a huge ones!

    I suffered to configure the e-mails too! We will not migrate them, we will configure them again!

    Hope the sugar team will plan to do it easily for the next upgrading versions, and make our lives easiest!

    Even sitegroung support team, my server hosting, declined to support sugar, unless I change my shared account to a dedicated server, to support the sugar configuration. And I can assure you their scripts are a very good ones.

    I think you are misinterpreting my prior message.

    My main point was that one shouldn't go around making wild accusations without providing both sides of the story.

    I know problems can come up with the upgrade. I've helped clients perform upgrades to 5.0 over the months and they've all had different problems. Interestingly enough, the vast majority of the problems were related to the environment, which was the second point in my prior message. I didn't intend to imply that problems could not happen during the upgrade process, which I believe is what you are extracting from it.
