Logged in as regular user - incorrect contact, employee and user name displayed

We set up SugarCRM Community Edition 5.5.2 (the free version) a couple of weeks ago and are currently populating it with account and contact information.

We have the following issue with users of a Regular User Type.

Ideally general employees would be set up as regular users. Regular users have a role applied which grants them access to all parts of the system.

However, under this set up, if you are logged in as a regular user, there seems to be an issue with the display of employee's names, contact's names, and user's names.

For example, if you log in as EG (a regular user) and go to Sales > Contacts you see:

Name
EG Head of Marketing
EG Head of Digital Marketing
EG Digital Marketing Manager

If you log in as admin user you correctly see:

Name
Matt Robertson Head of Marketing
Louise Mukkich Head of Digital Marketing
Daniel Reckfird Digital Marketing Manager

If you click EG it will take you through to the correct contact. It seems the functionality is correct but the display of the name is incorrect.

The same behaviour applies when you attempt to set an "assigned to" user in user pop-up that gets launched, and when you view employees.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this?

Try looking at the admin tab and going to locale settings. In the user interface section you can choose how names are displayed. Make the default name format s f l and see if this fixes it. You can also try under system settings to check the box to display full name.

Thanks. I tried both of these settings but it didn't resolve the issure.

I don't think I made it very clear in my example. The username of the currently logged in user is being displayed instead of the contact's name. In my example I logged in as username EG.

If I log in as regular user with a username of NC all the contact names in the list appear as NC.

Admin users work as expected.

Hello, I posted in another thread with same issue, but didn't had response.
Now in community edition 6.1 with insatalled russian language module have same issue. When logged in as administrator in all lists (such as employee, contacts etc.) names are normal. But when logged as regular user that names are looked as logged user name. In edit page names are normal. In database names are normal. May be variable $user_name used from session, and in administrator session this variable is not defined? I didn't check source yet. Can somebody help me to find, which method of which class generates this lists? Thanks in advance.

Not to hijack this, but I think I'm having the same issue.

It seems to only be happening to one user as far as I can see.

if I look in as admin, go to the employee page and list employees, I see the different users. If I log in as this user and list employees, all the names say the name of the user I'm logged in as, where it should show the employees in the system.

Anyone have any ideas?
