Lost ability to update custom fields

When editing or adding a contact, I no longer have the ability to edit the custom fields.

Existing contact: I went to edit mode, select an item from a drop down and entered text in a text field (both custom fields). I also changed the address and account. The address change and account saved, but what I entered into all custom fields did not save. Previously set custom fields still showed and there's a row in `contacts_cstm` for this contact.

New contact: I went to the new contact form. I entered in all fields. All custom fields were blank (didn't save) after saving and all normal fields were fine. I checked the database. No new line was made for that contact in `contacts_cstm`.

Somehow SugarCRM forgot that contacts_cstm exists. In an attempt to make it remember, I upgraded to 4.5.1d and tried various admin-repair links. I use Apache/PHP/MySQL.

Anyone know what's wrong? There are some end users anxious to edit their data.

Hi Eaho!

Looks like you have a problem with file

cache\dynamic_fields\Contacts\fields.php

there should be the information about all your custom fields.

Hope you have a backup of your old SugarCRM so you just have to copy this file from old Sugar to updated verion.

Now I'm feeling a bit foolish.

Studio -> Repair Custom Fields

did the trick. I tried just about every Admin -> Repair tool available and updating the system. I'm still confused why the thing initially broke (just playing around in studio adding fields to contacts), but I'm glad it's working. Thank you for the response and hopefully this thread will help someone else.
