Default Mass assign contacts to an oportunity

    Hello everyone,

I am using SugarCRM Comunity edition 5.0.2d on LAMP server.

I work for a Financial services company in Spain and we are very interested in using SugarCRM to manage the relationship with our clients. So far I love the product and it's flexibility.

Is there a way to assign multiple contacts/accounts/leads to an oportunity?

The workflow in the company is as follow:

There is an "oportunity" present, an investment in a fund, the sale of a building ect ...
we have this database of contacts which can be divided into two types Potentials (Leads in SugarCRM?) and Actuals (Accounts in SugarCRM?)

Normaly I would like to be able to propose the oportunity to various contacts be them accounts or leads and then be able to manage their response to that offer.

From what I've seen it is not possible to associate an oportunity to more than one account, idealy I would like to be able to mass update a group of selected contacts to assign/link them to an oportunity.

What do you think? that would require a specific development? maybe there is a module I overlooked on sugarforge ...

    Thanks for your opinion

    Hello,

there is one main account field located on the Opportunity record. Once you save the opportunity, you have the option to add any number of contacts or leads using the contacts subpanel.

You do have the option to attach the opportunity to more than one account, but out of the box, this can only be done from the Account detail view, by scrolling down to the opportunity subpanel and selecting the opportunity. However, the most recent account you do this for will replace the account name field on the opportunity, and you cannot view all accounts that are linked to the opportunity from the opportunity detail view (if you were to look at each individual account detail view, you could scroll down and see the opportunity).

The opportunities module could be customized to allow a many to many relationship with accounts if needed. Another option is to potentially make use of the Projects module. Within the projects module, you can attach any number of Contacts, Leads, Accounts, and Opportunities and be able to view all of them on the same screen.

We would really need to know more details to suggest the best course of action to take. If you would like to discuss your needs in more detail, please feel free to contact Ray Stoeckicht at rays@intelestream.net or 888-435-2221.

    Hello Sugarcane,

thanks for the tips, I will look into customizing the Projects module as it seems it already has a many-to-many relationship with the contacts module. As for managing the contact's response to the offer made, weel I'll have to think about it more because at the moment all may attemps have been fruitless.

Since we are in the early stages of deployment of SugarCRM my bosses are not going to want to invest in a product just yet, I need to be able to show them that they want it before they'll invest any time and money into development.

    Thanks again.

    Vincent
