Migcation from 5.2 CE to Sugar 6.0 CE, on a NEW SERVER

I am a novice taking on a challenge!

We stopped upgrading beyond 5.2 due to broken modules that seems to get worse with each upgrade.

I am trying to find documentation of moving from Sugar 5.2 CE on an older server to Sugar 6.0 CE on a new server.

All I find are notes on moving between servers at the SAME sugar level, ie. 5.x to 5.x OR 6.0 to 6.0.

Can anyone direct me to a method of upgrading AND migration at the same time?

I am extremely concerned with not losing 8 years of data, notes, emails, attachments, etc.

Do it in two steps, move it to the new server at the same level, then perform an upgrade on the new server.

You are going to need to do the upgrade as a separate step regardless of which server you do it on.

As a side note, I generally advice people wait for at least 3 - 4 months after the release of any software before installing/upgrading.
