Migrating data selectively into a new SugarCRM system

Hi there,

We have an existing sugar system which we use - problem is that we have added loads of accounts and have about 4600 accounts on our current system.

We want to setup a new sugar instance where we just have live client accounts in accounts, so about 150. The others would then either live in Leads or Opportunities.

This means we'd need some way of converting an account to a lead or opportunity as we go through and clean our data.

Does anyone know how we'd do this without losing all the associated notes and contact details?

I'd suggest cleaning up your current instance instead. Delete, mark as expired, something to prune out the account list. Or change the way users use Sugar in your organization so that it always searches by default for active accounts.

Otherwise issues will abound!
