Question Migration of changed modules from test system to live

    Hi All

I am running Sugar Enterprise 5.0.0f, and have a test system setup where I have done a number of modifications to the Opportunities module. These are mainly layout changes and new fields.

I now am happy with the test system and wish to put the changed module live.

Other than duplicating all my work and recreating fields, is there any way, in Sugar, to move layout and field changes from one system to another?

    Thanks, Rick

In theory, you should be able to copy the new files, they should all be in the /custom folder, and then run the quick repair and rebuild. I've done this successfully in the past but the last big project I tried it with was unsuccesful. I think it was due to a bug where Sugar doesn't create Integer fields. If you don't have integer fields it might work OK.

Sorry for the vague answer but that is how it supposed to work.

    Hi Rick

Do you have another system containing real data?
If not you can make backup of the current system and database, install an empty sugar (exactly the same version) without demo data.
After that you just copy from the current database the structure from the *_cstm tables (no data, just schema) and all data from fields_meta_data table.
Edit the config.php to points to the database created for this new instance.
Run the Quick Repair and Rebuild for all modules.

    Cheers
