    Default moderation

Why does it take so long for posts to get posted? you have this policy, not me. Please if you are going to make it as difficult as humanly possible to communicate then just close registration. Makes Sugar Community useless. Some take days. This is the oddest open source community i've tried to work with. Like a closed club or something. I would tell new users to just stay away from this whole mess.

    Captcha, blocking posts.

Here is the official statement regarding the new moderation : SugarCRM Forums - Announcements in Forum : Announcements

The good news is: the delay is only for the first 10 posts from a user, afterwards it is very quick. New posts come into the forum in seconds.
The bad news: it is a very bad impression for new users and this is why I don't like that kind of moderation too.

As far as I see the main reason for the delay is that the posts are moderated from american Sugar people during their working time. So especially for users in other continents the delay is VERY big because of the time shift.
Another problem is that the moderated posts are shown in the forum with their original posting time. It is sometimes hard to find these new posts because they are surrounded with old posts. So there is a big risk that the questions might not be answered.

I think it is generally a good method to do the moderation of the first 10 posts of new users. Since they do it this way I have seen no more spam posts in the forum. But Sugar should find a solution to reduce the delays significantly. In my opinion a delay of max. 1-2 hours should be ok, but not more.

I agree although it bothers me that in everything now in the world is the reaction is to hold back, stop communication, stop twitter, stop facebook, close communication. It's the opposite of open source.
Tyrants do these types of things, not the open source community.

I've seen a lot of forums that do not have these policies, do have spammers, but it can be deleted fairly quickly with the right amount of moderators, but, and i"m sure this is the case most everyone is working and not hanging out on the forum during work hours for the most part.

Spammers need permanent links so if it takes a week to delete it they still lose. An active abuse link with self moderation within the group I've seen works well. That way moderators don't have to search for the trash.

It's not about being a vampire ether (just looking for help, and not offering any help) I've seen posts that I can offer help, reduce the load on moderation and yet can't post or it's so frustrating I just say forget about it. That is not a good thing for the community. Also figure a person coming to the forum and registering (instead of lurking) is looking to communicate.

I think it's the easy way, not the right way with the 10 post issue and Captcha (I cant read them half the time) but it's not my forum and I must admit it's hard to feel part of the community when you are already looked at suspiciously. I then feel the same way about the SugarCRM community. Could be where some negative energy comes from in this project. IMHO.
Well you will get to read this in 12 or so hours later...meanwhile I fixed my issues and will not have the energy to share it after this nonsense. Still hats off to those who moderate and better provide tireless help to those in need.

This does seem slightly excessive, however having spam on the forum would also give a very bad impression.

I think the SugarCRM team might be missing a trick here... I'm sure they could get some free money by charging, say $10, to get "instant" approval on your first 10 posts (of course it would remain free for any posts to be moderated as normal).
