Question Module Builder: "Failed to retrieve data"

    This is the problem:

    • I am in the Module Builder
    • I want to add a new field, namely a dropdown, to a custom module
    • for that purpose, I want to add a drop down list (see screenshot)
    • when I click on the "add" button, I get the error message "Failed to retrieve data" at the top of the screen in red letters

    Why is that?

Exclamation Re: Module Builder: "Failed to retrieve data"

When I click on the Module builder, the following error appears in the Firebug console:

    "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://ourcompanyname.com/cache/themes/Sugar5/css/layout_sprite.png"

And then, when I click on the "Add" button to add a new list to a drop down that I want to create, this error is displayed:

    "NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://ourcompanyname.com/index.php?to_pdf=1&sugar_body_only=1&module=Module Builder&action=dropdown&view_package=TestPackage&v iew_module=TestModule&dropdown_name=&field="

    What does that mean?

The first error may be either a file permission issue or a SugarCRM bug.

The second error is due a bug I just reproduced in CE and PRO 6.2.1.
    I just fixed it.
Anyway this bug is not reproductable in 6.3.0.

Thank you André for your reply!

    Regarding the first error message:

    "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://ourcompanyname.com/cache/themes/Sugar5/css/layout_sprite.png"

I found out that while the specified folder exists, the file layout_sprite.png does not. Also, I am surprised that in our CE 6.2.1 installation there is a folder Sugar5 in the themes folder. Can it be due to the fact that we upgraded from 5.5.4 to 6.1 and then to 6.2.1?

As to the second error message:

    "NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - ourcompanyname.com Builder&action=dropdown&view_package=TestPackage&v iew_module=TestModule&dropdown_name=&field="

I am very surprised that this bug has not been reported before. After all, I would guess that many people would create custom drop downs for custom modules.

When I try to edit labels in the Module Builder, I also get the "Failed to retrieve data" error message in red letters at the top of the window. I suppose that is the same bug as the one already described in the bug tracker (45372):
