Default More than one instance of sugarcrm on server

    Hi,

Just installed Sugarcrm on windows 2003 with sql 2000. No problem. Again for second install using all different locations. But the second seems to stop the first working with error "Invalid access to memory location". no more on page.

Is there something obvious that I am missing. First day with this so silly errors a possibility.

    Johng

Before you get too far down the road and start complaining about other problems, SQL 2000 is not supported. You need to use SQL2005.

As for your current error, at which point is it occurring?

    More info helps.

It occurs when i try to restart the original install after the second install. So I install system a which works then system b which also works. But when system a is started by trying to access the web page
http://192.168.1.102:8080/sugarcrm/i...n&module=Users i get the error. System B still works by accessing similar page on different web site and database.
It appears to me that the second install overwrites something in the first, preventing it from starting. However I have also senn threads discussing up to 50 simultaneous sugarcrm systems so i believe it is possible.

I am aware of sql 2000 lack of support.

    Regards

I don't understand what you mean by the above. It almost sounds as though you are using one sugarcrm directory and using that to run the installer multiple times. I don't see how one install could affect the other otherwise, with the exception of specifying the same database name for both installs.

If you want multiple installs, create multiple sugarcrm folders under wwwroot, such as c:\inetpub\wwwroot\sugarcrm1, c:\inetpub\wwwroot\sugarcrm2, etc.

No i am using multiple directories, separate databases and separate web sites.

first install is sugar and I can see the web site thru iis and index.php is there and works

second install is client1 and I can also see web site "client1" via iis and database thru enterprise manager. index.php is there and works

but if I then go back to sugar and try to start it i get error as discussed.

I have installed each instance right from the beginning as if i had been doing it for the first time

Not sure what to tell you.

Short of the database sharing issue, I can't think of any other way that one installation could affect another, or for that matter, even be aware of the other.

How did you go about installing it?
