Name display format

Hi All,

I am trying to change how the contact and lead name is displayed. Currently displayed as Mr. John Doe and I'm trying to change it to Doe, Mr. John or some variation of that so I can display and sort by last name and not first name. I tried changing the Local settings from S F L to L F S but that made no difference. Can someone tell me if this is correct or what I need to do to get this changed.
